Do you make any additional edits?
I KNOW that I did exactly that. I have no idea why it’s working now. It’s not rocket science.
1. Appearance > Widgets … Drag the Widget to the desired section … SAVE
2. Appearance > Theme Options … Select “Floating Widget Area” and select the Footer section … SAVE
That’s it, right?
And you just dragged the Widget to the right side area/box marked “Footer #1”?
Check the private submission form.
Done. Site is available.
So… I thought that I had figured things out… but I guess not. Although it seemed as if the home page “Simple Slider” was using the Standard Slider, it was actually using the Nivo Slider. After figuring this out, all of my edits work just fine.
Since the Nivo transition was set to ZERO, this is Nivo’s method for preventing an ‘automatic rotating slideshow.’ Changing the transition time setting to any number higher than zero causes the slideshow to rotate automatically.
So the only question from above that would be great to hear about would be the Shortcodes video.
Hope this posting helps others.
Everything is going smoothly now. Thanks!
One more issue…
I can’t seem to get these specific Widgets to display in the Footer section. I have set up everything exactly as your video demonstrates. (Nice job, by the way!)
FYI: The “Simple Contact” Widget in location Footer #4 section (per the Demo) is working perfectly.
Admin > Appearance > Widgets
SECTION > Custom: Footer #2
I have dragged the “Recent Posts” Widget to this area, entered a title and clicked SAVE. But the Recent Posts section is not displaying. Nothing displays in this location. The same goes for the Twitter Widget.
I changed the (Appearance > Theme Options) Footer Layout section for each of these to “Raw Content” and entered content. The footer sections display perfectly with “Raw Content.”
I can understand why the Twitter Feed is not displaying… as I have not set up the Twitter account yet. However, at least the TITLE should display. Also, the Recent Posts from the Sample Data should definitely display – again, at least the TITLE should display.
Please help. Thanks.
I have viewed the videos, read through the docs, etc. However…
Is there any way that you can provide one XML file and one SQL file as a real “ready-to-go” “out-of-the-box” sample content WP Alyeska theme that is identical to the default DEMO as demonstrated in this link:
*I don’t care if it has a blue background and a specific background texture file. Having the content layout and all other parts already selected per the demo would seriously cut down on set up time.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
FYI: Yes… I also imported the XML file. Still not an identical DEMO WP site.
