Okay, so here we’re talking about two different things. Let’s tackle them one at a time.

Can you please advise how to make the videos at this page play? I don’t see a play button or anything, just the featured image that I set.

When you’re dealing with any kind of featured image, you need to configure the featured image link for that post to link to a YouTube video. This featured image link will get used where ever that post gets displayed.

When editing any post (or portfolio item), there is a meta box called “Post Options” there on the Edit Post screen in your WordPress admin. Within that set of options there is a “Featured Image Link” option that you can configure.

I’m having the same problem with the background videos on the hero units at this link…

To use the background video feature, you need to link to a an actual .mp4 and .webm file as the instructions say. It won’t work to link to a YouTube video in this case because you need the raw video file.

But from the looks of what you’re doing, I don’t think a background video is what you’re trying to accomplish there. An example of a background video in action would be something more like the hero unit at the top here: http://demoblvd.com/themes/denali/demo-3/

So, if you’re just wanting to display a YouTube video there on the page, just insert a “Content” element into your layout and then put the link to the YouTube video.

Note: When you’re using the various features in the theme like featured image link, or default embedding features of WordPress, you want to use the raw YouTube video page URL, which in this case would be:
