WordPress ignores template

    Hi,
Wordpress ignores my set template for a specific site (post grid + content, etc.) and changes it to a standard post list without any content. Any ideas on why WordPress ignores / overrides my template?

Add: I left the setting/reading for a post page blank – that’s not the problem.

    Hello,

Can I see a link to the page where the custom layout is supposed to be?

What you’re linking to is a WordPress archive and not a static page that you could be attaching a custom layout to.

If you’ve setup things properly with the static page, I’m thinking you just have a conflict in your permalink setup. Did you create a page with slug “geschenkideen”? If so, this is going to conflict with your category you’ve created with the same name.

When you go to http://yoursite.com/your-category/, you’re pulling up that category archive. I believe this has something to do with your permalink settings at Settings > Permalinks. On the typical setup your category archive pages would be at the address http://yoursite.com/category/your-category/, and so you wouldn’t typically run into a conflict like this.

If you want to keep the permalink settings unchanged, you’d need to change the slug of either that category or the page you created with the custom layout.

    Does that make sense?

I see. Yes you’re absolutely right. Thanks! 🙂
