Various Layouts

I think I’m a victim of too many options to understand what to do. For my home page I would like to add after my content I want one of the following layouts.

    A) Two columns. One column to feature recent blog post with image, title & content snippet. Second column to feature my instagram feed

    B) A grid layout with 3 columns like on your demo.themblvd.com site having image, title and text snippet. Followed by another section (row) that would contain my instagram feed.

Honestly, I’d proabably just go with the simples to figure out but I can’t figure out how to use the layout builder or simply use a widget to display the blog in the manner I’m describing. So far, this is the best I can get. http://www.charlotteboudoirstudio.com

    Hi,

First, have you watched the video tutorials in your documentation on how the layout builder works?

    https://vimeo.com/album/3141866

Now that you’ve watched the videos…

    A) Two columns. One column to feature recent blog post with image, title & content snippet. Second column to feature my instagram feed

In your custom layout, you’d select the appropriate sidebar layout (i.e. probably “Sidebar Right”). Then you’d add the elements you want for the main content. Then, you’d go to Appearance > Widgets, and add your Instagram widget to the right sidebar widget area.

    B) A grid layout with 3 columns like on your demo.themblvd.com site having image, title and text snippet. Followed by another section (row) that would contain my instagram feed.

Start your layout by using the Commodore Homepage sample layout (make sure you’ve watched the sample layouts video). Then continue to edit it the way you want.

Thanks. I understand the system now. I’m not able to get the look for the blog posts that I want. The widgets of Theme Blvd Mini Post List and Grid do not show snippets of the blog text. Only the image and title. I then tried to use the custom layout to show a current page of the blog, but that doesn’t work either. Is it possible to have a blog preview like the attached? http://s10.postimg.org/kit9rnvsp/Untitled_1.jpg

Also, there seems to be an extra row of space at the bottom of the site, do you have any insight for what that is?

Unfortunately we do not offer any widget that shows this, but I’m sure you could find a plugin on wordpress.org. What you’re showing in your screenshot is a post grid which can only be added as an element to the main content area of your layout.

This is where you configure the columns of your footer. Go to Appearance > Theme Options > Layout > Footer to set this up. See more about how the demo was setup in your documentation Getting Started section.
