Is there a possibility to do something like an advertorial or a other photo in the sidebar, without having the white block around it?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no end-user feature for this. All widgets are styled consistently within a white box. However, through your own CSS customizations, you could style a specific widget, though, and remove the white background around it.

For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme‘s style.css or in the “Custom CSS” option on your theme options page.

How you determine a selector to use for your custom CSS to target your specific widget, is going to depend on the specific widget you use, combined with the other widgets you’re using in your sidebar. So, it’s important to understand how to use an inspector to look at your specific website setup and see what classes/ids are there that you can use to style.
