Hey I wonder how and if I can rearrange my photographs. I would like to change the order of the images in my Portfolio.
I also would like to position the thumbnail images of the portfolio. (screenshot attached)

Is it both possible or would I need a plugin?

    Hi,

How specifically is your portfolio currently setup? Are you using the layout builder?

And apologies, even with the screenshot I do not know what you mean by your’d like “reposition the thumbnails.” Are you referring to the images having inconsistent sizes?

Also, as always, it would extremely helpful if you provided a live link to your portfolio.

    Hey,

so what I try to do is: I would like to resize the buddha. Because the image is vertical and quite large. http://postimg.org/image/j0ma59l73/ . The buddha is only with the shoulder to see http://postimg.org/image/v6toc5uqd/ and I would like to move him a bit down to see the face or to even see more of the image. For example on etsy you can adjust the thumbnail. http://postimg.org/image/4l4q8nyb5/
So my question is. would it be possible to enlarge or make the image smaller for the appearance of the thumbnail. (can be through a plugin or something) If not. Is there any chance to line up the Images. This is a screenshot from my portfolio. The buddha is now fully to see which is perfect but now all the other images are not in a row to adjust the white space. http://postimg.org/image/9ql1tmzkn/

And now there is a question. If I want to change the arrangement of the image http://postimg.org/image/9ql1tmzkn/ Lets say the bird after the Buddha and the ocean view at the beginning… would that be possible at all?

Here is my live link to the portfolio. http://nnnegativs.com/home-i/album-5/
I keep two styles. So maybe you can better see when I say to adjust and resize the image.

Thanks for you help. Have a good start in the new week.

WordPress does have some image editing tools available if you edit the images in the Media section of your WordPress admin, and I’m sure there are plugins that extend this further, but it’s not something I’ve really ever personally explored. Most people I’ve talked to that want precise cropping prefer to edit their images before uploading.

But it’ll be helpful to understand a couple basic things about how WordPress cropping works. —

First, at the time you upload an image, WordPress automatically creates cropped versions of that image for all the registered crop sizes by the theme, your plugins, and default WordPress ones configured at Settings > Media. If your image is not large enough to fit a given crop size, that crop size gets skipped.

When a theme (or plugin) outputs an image from your media library, the theme tells WordPress a specific crop size to pull for that image. If the crop size doesn’t exist, it returns the original un-cropped image.

So, when you configure this Post Showcase element in your custom layout of the layout builder, you want to a pick a crop size that is going to work with the images you’re uploading, or make sure you’re uploading larger images. The “tb_grid” size will work best for post showcases, and is the default selected when you configure a post showcase. But this requires that the images you upload are at least 640px wide and 360px tall.

Also, within your post showcase element’s options in the layout builder, you have a few options for configuring the order in which they’re displayed.

And if you really need precise re-ordering, you can always just keep them ordered by publish date, but then edit the publish date of individual Portfolio Item posts.

For reference, here’s a listing of all the crop sizes, the theme framework adds to WordPress, and their dimensions:

And an article on customizing image crop sizes, if that’s a road you want to go down:
