messed up homepage

    Hello, I bought the theme a few days ago and have been playing around with it. I thought I had everything set up pretty well and then I changed something that made the whole homepage disappear.

    Where did I mess up?

    Appearance > Theme Options > Layout > Header Text

    I put the words “Call Us” with my telephone number and that worked fine. It messed up when I tried changing this header text by trying to input my own html with line breaks and font size.

    After I tried saving that, my home page disappeared and all of the fonts turned really small (which I changed back using an option in the Alyeska theme.

    Do you have any suggestions as to how to get the homepage back? I think the rest of the website is safe.

    My website is centrontesting.com

    Thank you for your help. I’m really liking the theme a lot. Thanks!

    Chris

    Actually I got the homepage back to what it was, but do you know how I can change the Header Text to include my phone number, fax, and address in bold and bigger font?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately there are no options for this in the theme. The idea here is that you just have a line of text you can do what you want with and there are no other complications. If you actually wanted to change the formatting of it, you’d need to do that with CSS customizations.

    For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS” option on your theme options page.

    #branding .header-text { ... }

    Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974. The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.
