Layout Builder not responding to new page design

First, great theme, I love all the options and ease of use. I am having issues building an interior page, which houses my blog. I modified my Child Theme to build my home page and have tried using it to modify the blog page. Even if I use the same page layout on the blog page that I have for the home page, it is not accepting it. (You can tell from the lack of the slider and header.)

I have looked for overriding theme choices I might have made, but I was able to change out the home page template multiple times regardless and the blog page will not accept changes.

    Help.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Don’t worry, this is something that’s confusing to a lot of people. Here’s the issue. —

You’ve gone to Settings > Reading > Frontpage Displays, and you’ve selected this blog page as your “posts page” — When you do this, WordPress uses this page as a sort of placeholder to display the theme’s standard blogroll (i.e. index.php of the theme, in most cases). And now, any kind of page template you’ve selected over at that page becomes irrelevant, as WordPress is now ignoring that.

The only reason for designating a page as your “posts page” is to make this swap of the page with the theme’s default blogroll display. However, in your case, you’re using the Alyeska theme’s templates on that blog page; so you don’t need that setting at all.

Go back to Settings > Reading > Frontpage Displays, and just deselect that page; don’t have any “posts page” set. Now, you’ll see that you can apply whatever page template, or custom layout you want to that blog page.
