Jumpstart License Question

Hello and thanks for your time.

Do I need to purchase a Jumpstart license for each website I use it on since it has a annual renewal fee?

The reason I ask, and please excuse my ignorance. I purchase the ThemeBlvd themes for the framework which I applaud you guys for. Great product. At first I had purchased three JumpStart licenses for three different sites, and because I didn’t RTFM when it was time to renew at $65 a pop I purchased and migrated all of the sites to Akita, Alyska…etc. to keep the framework but not keep the annual cost.

The reason I am asking is because I do not mind paying the annual fee for the product, but I am not selling themes on themeforest, which is what I am guessing the JumpStart theme is for to justify the cost compared to the ThemeForest options. Perhaps I am mistaken?

So another reason I am asking is because I am up for another renewal and I am willing to pay it if I can use JumpStart on other sites much like when you pay for premium plugins developer editions so you can use it unlimited and pay the annual renewal every year. Or I need to do what I have done in the past which is jump to another theme with a one time cost and the framework.

And just to be clear, this is not a bashing post. I love your product, I am a small shop, and I am just not wanting to step on licensing toes. You deserve to get paid what you think is fair. But as you are probably aware, you have a gaping loop hole for your framework when it comes to JumpStart.

    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Again…….RTFM
    /facepalm

How many websites can I use Jump Start on?

The Jump Start WordPress theme and any other products sold on WPJumpStart.com are licensed under the GNU general public license.

So, this means your purchase grants you permission to use our products on however many websites you want.

    Hello,

Yup! You got it. Only need for one license. Unless we start seeing a single license key pulling updates from an crazy amount of different websites, like maybe the key is getting passed around or something, we don’t really care how many sites you use it on.

The theme itself is GPL, so there’s technically really no limit to what you could do with it, I guess. What you’re more purchasing is a year of updates and support.

… but I am not selling themes on themeforest, which is what I am guessing the JumpStart theme is for to justify the cost compared to the ThemeForest options.

My personal intention is definitely not for people to take Jump Start, tweak it and re-sell it as their own work. The idea is that people are creating their own child themes of Jump Start.

I realize that GPL licensing kind of opens the doors to a lot of technicalities, but ThemeForest reviewers have told me they will not accept themes that are people copying Jump Start.
