Not quite sure what has happened, but suddenly my footer columns are not showing and the footer content went back to the default.

I’ve got it set to Entrepreneur theme base, and in options I don’t see any place to set the footer columns or copyright content.

I haven’t changed the theme base recently. Is Entrepreneur not supposed to have footer columns and copyright content? I thought it did, and still should because I haven’t touched the footer of this build in weeks.

Poof. No idea why. If anyone can help me fathom what just happened I’d be no longer panicking.

    Thanks!

    Matt

Continuing to hunt down the problem. The Footer area with the template sync area is gone. By my understanding, on the entrepreneur base, this should not be. No?

About a week ago I changed the name of my child theme, could this be related?

    Hi,

Is Entrepreneur not supposed to have footer columns and copyright content?

No, the Entrepreneur base doesn’t do anything to Footer options. All footer options are the same, no matter what base you select.

Yes, this will reset your saved theme options because now your theme options are saved to a different value (which is based on the name of the current theme), but it wouldn’t remove options from the theme options page.

This is a new one I’ve never heard before. There has to be a simple explanation for this with something you’re doing. But I’d obviously have to see the WordPress admin to tell you anything on that.

… But I see footer columns on your site, does that mean you figured all this out?

    Hi Jason,

I did figure out that the child-theme switch had hosed the site settings so I reverted back to the original child theme set up via git checkout.

The disappearing footer field I just figured it out about 1.31 minutes ago.

It turns the hidden footer was a setting on Adminimize that wasn’t supposed to — but did in fact — hide that ONE field, their recent update changed… something. And poofed that field. Random.

Problem solved. Lessons learned: 0. :\

Thank you for your reply! Sorry to drag you into it!

You can still switch to a new child theme name and keep your current settings. You just need to filter the option ID used.

The filter example is shown in that article I linked you to. In your new child theme, in your filter callback you’d just simply return a string that is the ID you have now.
