Custom Widget Area not visible on Assigned Page

I created a Custom Widget area for my Post (called Blog) page – as I want to list my Categories and Archives on this page and all the post pages but not the other pages of website.

I dragged these Categories and Archives items into that Custom Widget which I named Blog Sidebar.

I assigned to Blog page and All Posts … and it is checked off green on dashboard for both Page: Blog and All Posts

However, it isn’t showing up on the Blog page. What shows up there is the normal default right sidebar instead. I tested it on other pages and even on All pages – it works everywhere I tested except the page I want!

    Is something possibly overriding it?

    Hello Cathy,

Did you set this page as your “posts page” under your WordPress Reading settings? If so this is now your “homepage” as WordPress sees it (remember that WordPress started as a blogging platform). So under your widget area assignments you want to select Hierarchy > Homepage.

    Jason, oh yes!

my Front page set as a Static Page, Then under that, I have Front Page: Home and Post Page: Blog

So I tried what you suggested! sweet!!

So I assigned Blog Page and under Hierarchy, Homepage and All Posts. I think that’s all correct.

looks right! thank you so much!!!

    Cathy
