Cusomizations not working after wordpress update

I recently updated my WordPress to 3.5.2 (which seemed to fix the problem of having spam on my homepage that I noticed when going to view:source of the homepage)– Now any customizations I seem to make on the Alyeska theme do not work, even really basic ones such as the background colour. It previews my changes, and I press ‘save and publish’ and the changes do not happen.
I don’t know if the updating of wordpress is responsible but seems to be the only reason.
Would really appreciate any help! Thank-you

    Hello Susy,

This is because you’re using version 1.1.3 of the theme from April 13, 2011. All updates are free; so I would consider looking into the new version, in which the theme was completely re-done. It’s essentially a brand-new theme from the backend with the big 3.0 update coming in the next couple weeks.

If you scroll to the bottom here you can see the changelog with dates:

If you want to just quickly fix the background issue without hassling with anything else, I’d at least update to v1.1.4 posted in December 2011.

You can get the latest version of the theme by simply downloading it again from your ThemeForest Downloads page. Inside the download package the latest version is the ZIP called “” and Inside the package is a folder called “archive” where you will find v1.1.4, as well.

If you do decide to update to 2.0+, here’s an article that talks about the transition posted about a year and half ago:

    Sweet thank-you for that.
I backed up my previous site — is it possible to import all that content into the updated theme?
I’m trying to start again with the updated theme and it is a nightmare for me trying to get my homepage
to resemble what it used to look like

Actually never mind have figured it out in the end! These things do not come naturally to me!
