Change Body Background Image / CSS

Hi, your themes rock! I’m switching my site over to use Alyeska and I want to use the “stretch” layout because I like the way the top menu bar looks, but I want the background around the blog posts to be a gradient (using an image or CSS).

Here’s what I want it to look like (this is my old site design).

I’d also like to make the blog posts not have a border, so that they blend with the background like in my old design. I know you can’t do custom work for me, but can you just point me in the right direction in your stylesheet?

    Thank you!

For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the overriding edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS” option on your theme options page.

Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.

And this way, you can find those elements like the specific part of the background you’re looking for or the specific background of the blog posts, and write your overriding styles in your own stylesheet.
