Change 404 Error Page

Is there an “easy way” to change what is displayed for the 404 error page?

I’m not a developer or codes, so “hooks” and “filters” aren’t really an option. I have designed a page I would like to use and though I might just be able to drop a redirect link in somewhere, but of course it doesn’t appear to be that easy…

    Hi,

Checkout our string swap plugin. That should do the trick for you, I think. It’ll allow you to change the title and content of the 404 page, along with any other hard-coded text strings the theme outputs on the frontend of your website.

    Thanks.

This plugin will be helpful for some other wording changes I need to make, but not really helpful form my initial intent.

I wanted to add an optin form to the 404 page, so that even if people get to my site though a broken link, I still have the opportunity to offer them value. This plugin is not that dynamic.

No worries though. I came up with a workaround. I add a a javascipt in the footer to initiate a pop to handle this functionality. Perhaps not as pretty, but I think it gets the job done.

    Thanks again for your help.

I would install the included child theme, and just copy content-404.php from main parent theme to your child theme. This is a really simple little file and you can just plop your form in there.

The fact that you know the word javascript tells me you can probably pull that off. 😉

    I just may take that on… 🙂

BTW, your plugin is actually much better than I first thought too. I just realized that I could use some basic html code in the text string boxes!

Thanks again for the help… and better yet the fast responses!
