Carousel slider resizing

My site uses Alyeska…I love the theme!!

I have four images in the carousel slider on the home page http://www.gangshow.co.nz

I went to add new slides to the slider and carefully made them the same size as the first four. However, the display of them renders them smaller than the original four – it looks dumb. I’ve left one up so you can see the issue.

The process that I have used is…
    1) Make the images the same size as the first four (640 x 429)
    2) Use the media loader to upload them.
    3) Add a new slide to the slider and use the “Get image” button to add the image. Select the “Full size” option (it is the only one showing anyway),
    4) Update the slider

If I look at the image of the new slide compared to the original slides I see that “-320×200” has been added to the url so this is what is reducing the size, but I can’t see where the option to prevent this is.

    What am I doing wrong???

    Hello Malcolm,

Unfortunately what you’re going for isn’t going to quite work. This is how the slider should be turning out:

    http://www.themeblvd.com/demo/alyeska/features/layout-builder/sample-layouts/portfolio-homepage/

The theme uses the grid_4 size of the framework for the carousel slider. The problem is actually that the first four images are not setup properly. The slider is pulling default sizes because the proper grid_4 size doesn’t exist for them.

I assume you uploaded them before in installed the theme? Any time you install a theme with new crop sizes, you need to regenerate your thumbnails for any previously uploaded images.

If I look at the image of the new slide compared to the original slides I see that “-320×200″ has been added to the url so this is what is reducing the size, but I can’t see where the option to prevent this is.

There’s no option to prevent this. You’d have to modify the crop size. You can use this plugin, but that’s also going to mess with any post grids you might be using that have 3 columns (because that’s where the grid_4 size is also used).

Jason…thank you sooo much…I love it the way it is meant to be! Thank you.

I don’t suppose there is anyway that the carousel can automatically advance…I couldn’t see that as an option.

Thank you for your prompt reply! I really did appreciate it.

    No problem, Malcom.

No, I apologize, but there is no option for this.

Thanks for the response Jason…sorry to hassle you with silly requests but…
    1. Can you point me to a post about adding a favicon to this theme
    2. Can you point out the script that runs the carousel so I can try customising and auto advance.

    Many thanks
