    I have my homepage set up with 4 columns under the slider and am trying to simply display an image underneath some text in the column. I have the permalink from the media library and use a basic tag, but the page displays an empty image area with a question mark (Safari), a broken image tag (Chrome) or the alt text (Firefox). See http://postimg.org/image/mxijw9q93/

    The code is:

    I’ve also tried uploading the image to Photobucket but when I link to it the site shows “Sorry this person moved or deleted this image”.

    This is such a simple thing and it is driving me crazy why it is not working. Thanks.

    Not sure why the one line of code was removed from my post:

    OK for the time being I’ve installed the NextGEN plugin which allows me to display a single picture in the column. However, I’m still curious why I cannot use to do the same thing.

    Hello,

    The issue is that you’re not linking to an image file in your HTML. The URL you’re using doesn’t go anywhere on your site, so I’m not quite sure where you’re getting that URL from. I’m thinking (at one time) maybe that was a permalink to WordPress’s attachment post page for the image, but I’m just guessing.

    Anyway, if you’re inserting an image with basic HTML, the src needs to be the url to an actual image file. A url to an image file would look something like this:

    http://yoursite.com/uploads/image.jpg

    And so you would have something like this:

    <img src="http://yoursite.com/uploads/image.jpg" alt=“Nehemiah Group”>

    If the basic HTML is problem for things like this, it’s nothing to worry about. Checkout this video for an alternate method of working with columns and content elements:
