Not sure if this is a bug or something unique to my setup.

On one of my sites now after the update Builder has stopped working. This started as soon as I did the plugin update and had hoped it was solved now that the theme is updated but it’s still not working. I’ve had to rebuild my front page without builder.

If I choose the “Custom Layout” page template the second option for custom layout does not appear.

I deactivated, deleted and reinstalled the builder plugin.

I set up a staging area with a clone of the site – disabled all plugins but yours and it’s still not working:

I can give you access to the backend if you like.

This is the error I get if I try to use Layouts:

Invalid Layout ID: The layout ID currently assigned to this page no longer exists.

Since experiencing this issue and now getting everything up to date, have you gone back to the Page where you have the layout assigned, verified the layout is chosen, and re-saved the page?

Just in general, what this error means is that the custom layout slug attached to that page does not exist. What a lot of people do is have a layout attached to a page and then later either delete that layout or change its name. Then they go back to edit that page and see that it appears the correct layout is selected for that page (because the actual one doesn’t exist for the select menu to show it), but really they still haven’t saved that selection.

The problem is that it is not showing any options for which layout to select.

I have not deleted the slug. I didn’t change it before the error showed up. I have created new layouts to see if that will help but none are showing up.

There are 3 layouts available – the original and 2 new ones:

I removed (deleted) all plugins except TB ones to make sure there was no conflict (I love staging areas!).

Jason – is the a way to set this up so we can be notified by email when you respond so I can get back to you more quickly?

Okay, now I see the confusion you’re having. The custom layout is now applied from the new “Custom Layout” meta box. You should have a giant meta box added to your Edit Page screen titled “Custom Layout.”

If you do not see this, it’s possible WordPress may have hidden it for whatever reason. Just switch it on from your Screen Option. Here’s a screenshot of what I’m referring to.

Does this now solve the issue you’re having?

You can already do if you check this box. If you’re doing this and not getting messages, then the emails are probably just going to your junk mail.

[edit] Note: I just noticed that for example, on this topic, you did not select this box when posting.

    I found it.

One of the things to keep in mind is if you change the way a feature works the documentation needs to be updated as well. I never thought to look in a different place.

You changed the way a major component is applied but did not change the documentation (i did check to be sure I was doing it correctly).

I know it seems small to you – but this created about 10 hours of work for me and broke my homepage when the upgrade happened.

Thanks for pointing out the “notify me” – not sure why I didn’t see it before.

I’m sorry, but I’m totally not getting this new builder system. When I do custom template on the page itself, there is no update button anywhere. I have changed the number of columns in the grid from 3 to 4 and after updating the page itself and realoading, nothing happens.
Ok, going back the old way, I created a new layout in the builder.
In the page’s Page Attributes box, I can choose Custom Layout option, but don’t have a list of them anymore, only ‘order’ which wants something numeric from me (which is not the same as the layout ID shown on Builder/Manage Layouts (which is text and not numeric).
I’m sure I’m missing something since noone else reported having problems with this, but still.
    using 1.0.2 with updated plugins

    Hi Jason,

I’m having this issue too, and I DO have the “Custom Layout” checkbox selected in my screen options. I’m able to both set the custom layout in the right sidebar and below the post box where the other page options show up. But I still get the invalid layout error ID – mere seconds after creating a brand-new layout!

Whoops! Never mind, I was not running the latest version of the theme, and for some reason the Dashboard wasn’t showing me that it needed an update. I logged out and logged back in, saw the update alert, updated the theme, and it was all good.
