    Hi Jason –

I made the updates to latest WordPress and Akita version and all is well apart from…

The Widgets I had previously have disappeared from pages? Do I need to go somewhere to set those up from scratch again?

    Hello John,

How did you make the update to the theme? Did you update manually through an FTP program? Did your update process include changing the directory name of the theme? Did your update process include any activating/deactivating in your WP admin under the themes page?

I’m asking these questions because WordPress saves widget data partially based on the template directory name of the current theme.

    Hi Jason –

No worries, I managed to get the widgets back in the end.

I noticed that these particular Widgets were located lower down in Widgets section, under ‘Inactive Widgets’. So I just drag-dropped them over to the existing Custom widget sections still showing, on the righthand side.

I updated the theme from V.1.0.0 by..
    – Downloading the Zip from ThemeForest
    – Activating another default theme in WP and then deleting the old Akita theme
    – Then selecting and uploading the new Akita Zip via the Worpress Admin

Aw, ok — So in the future, if you ever need to manually update, it’s probably better to do it thorough FTP, where you’ll just replace upload the new “akita” folder at /wp-content/themes on your server, with the new “akita” folder. By doing it this way, you’re not changing anything in the WP Admin.
