Add a line break to post excerpts

  • Creator
  • #9763

    Hi there,
I have come across an issue with post excerpts in that they don’t seem to allow line breaks so all the text from the post runs together. Is there away to overcome this issue?

    thanks in advance

    Hello Stephen,

By default, WordPress will take the first 55 words of your post to use as the excerpt, with all HTML excluded. Or, you can manually write out the excerpt for any post within the meta box titled “Excerpt” when editing the given post.

Note: If you do not see the “Excerpt” meta box when editing a post, it means you have it hidden. Go to “Screen Options” at the top right corner of the screen and select to show it.

So, if you wanted line breaks in your excerpts, you’d need to actually write out your excerpts manually and include them.

Specifically to this theme, the other option you have is to select to display “Full content” for your post lists. This will serve as an alternate approach to using excerpts. Then, each post will display up to wherever you’ve place the <!--more--> tag in your post.
