    Give me the village idiot award this week: it was a stray bracket above this custom css that was stopping the font from behaving properly. All’s well.

    Cheers,

    Well, I’m back again. The client doesn’t want any kind of text decoration–no shadow, no nothing. Here’s what I’ve put into the Custom CSS:

    #access li a {
    font-weight: normal;
    text-shadow: 0px 0px 0px;
    }

    This hasn’t gotten rid of the shadow, and the client still thinks the font looks bold. I can see a subtle difference between bold and normal, but she doesn’t see it and wants the text to be thin.

    ??

    Thanks,
    JC

    ::Sheepish grin::

    Fixed it. I had a rogue bracket in my Custom CSS that was stopping the height from adjusting with that little line of code. Realized it, deleted it, and there we are — perfectly sized slider container.

    Thanks for the help!

    I cropped all the images in the homepage slider to 960×275 and added this bit of coding to Custom CSS:

    #featured .element-slider .standard-slider-wrapper li.slide { height: 275px; }

    If you take a look at http://multiani.com/equatoriateak, you’ll see that the wrapper is still 960px x 350px, leaving a large textured area beneath the slider, plus the green bar below that–neither of which my customer wants.

    What else do I need to change to get the featured area height to adjust correctly for these images? I’ve tried everything else I can think of (as my first post no doubt demonstrated!) without success.

    Thanks,
    JC

    The slider wrapper isn’t determined by image size. I tried that first. If I crop all the images down, the green textured background shows above the image, filling in the difference between the 350px container height and the height of the image. For instance, if I crop to 275px, I get 75px of background at the top of each image in the slider.

    But thanks for the bit of CSS. I’ll give that a go.

    Oof. I was using Safari’s Inspect Element, which didn’t give me any of that specific CSS. Back to Chrome.

    That worked nicely.

    Yep, I can see that, but it would still be cool if adding a title inside the WordPress image editor would add the title tag to the image HTML and kill that “undefined” text. Kind of adds an extra step if you’ve got to go into the HTML and create titles (or no titles) for each and every clickable lightbox image.

    Just glad I didn’t have 100 images to update!

    Yup. That nailed it. I tried several width code options but found that setting the width in pixels made the footer shrink smaller than the body wrapper when viewed on a tablet or mobile device, so I decided to go to 100%. Now I see that “auto” does the job perfectly.

    So, putting a title into the image properties in WordPress’s Edit Image interface doesn’t actually fix this problem; I’ve got to go into the HTML on each image and add a blank title or an actual title. I did that, and, yep, it works–but it sure would be nice if PrettyPhoto had a tip about that. 😉

    Thanks. Worked like a charm. Now I’ve just got to fix the HTML for all the other images that open in Lightbox.

    Oy! Of course! That was the custom CSS I added to give drop shadows to all other images (per client’s request).

    Makes sense now.

    THANKS!

    I think I might be inching closer to an answer due to Chrome’s Inspector. Here are two screenshots. The first shows the slider dimensions:

    http://tinypic.com/r/3581c9s/4

    And the second shows the div.slide-body attributes:

    http://tinypic.com/r/2yyy545/4

    The difference between the slide’s default size and the slide-body size is 40 pixels (350 vs 390). Should I actually crop my slider images to 960px x 390 px to get them to fill that entire area and leave no green textured border at the top?

    Thanks,
    JC

    Wow. Loving Chrome’s Inspector. Made it so easy to change the footer with some custom CSS. Thanks again!

    PS – I’ve already made sure that the default “Large” image size under Settings: Media is larger than necessary to avoid the weird cropping, but it’s doing it anyway. Also tried regenerating thumbnails…nope. Doesn’t help.

    It was in my first post: http://multiani.com/equatoriateak. No matter how I size the images, they all crop down and leave the green textured border at the top. Not the case at http://socialkenya.com, which has one full-sized slider that fills the whole area.

    Thanks,
    JC
