    Hi,

I am using the Theme Blvd Video widget and the You-Tube video is not showing up. It was working until today and has since stopped. I have re-entered all info and it is still not working.

Also, placing Youtube code on a page does not work either… It there a conflict between the standard wordpress feature and the template?

Site for reference: http://www.Professoregghead.com and ProfessorEgghead.com/losangeles

    Hello,

Were you able to figure it out? I can see the YouTube video on the two pages you’re linking to. Maybe just a temporary glitch or downtime with YouTube?

But to answer your question, the theme doesn’t do anything to WordPress’s embedding of the video, except take what WordPress has already marked up, and then wrap it in a div in order to apply responsive CSS. And when you using the Theme Blvd Video widget, it doesn’t really do all that much. It just takes your URL and passes it to WordPress’s wp_oembed_get function, which essentially is the same thing as when you place the URL to a video in your page or post.

    Hi Jason,

Thank you for the quick response. I think there was an issue with another widget (location widget), that created the problem. However, I was not able to replicate the issue. I am going to keep looking into it.

I am still not able to paste the direct youtube link and have the video show up – just the link is visible. I am referring to this wordpress feature: http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/youtube/

Are you talking about when working within a page or post’s content? Or where specifically are you trying to paste the URL? If WordPress’s oembed doesn’t work, it would mean you have to have plugin that is interfering.

Or possibly you’re misunderstanding how oembed works? It’s pretty straight forward, and I’m sure you get it, but I’ll just clarify anyway. In a page or post’s content (only), you can place the URL of the YouTube video by itself like this:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=xyz

Also just for clarity, the article you’re linking to is for wordpress.com, which is a whole other thing. So, just be careful in reading that article, as not everything is the same for your site. Here’s the relevant article for the WordPress PHP application:

Working within the pages content. For example, I would like to have the video below the content on this page: http://professoregghead.com/losangeles/classes/. However, I have to use “page builder” and then create a widget area and use the theme blvd video widget.

I just want to have the video on the page itself, without going through all of that.

Yeah, there’s no reason you should have to use the Layout Builder just to insert a YouTube video in your page. oEmbed is a default feature of WordPress. You can see this demonstrated in the live demo here:

http://demoblvd.com/themes/akita/test-video/ (latest version of the theme)

http://themeblvd.com/demo/akita/test-video/ (your older version of the theme)

Here is what I’ve pasted in this test page on both sites:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam.

So, there has to be something specific on your site that would be blocking this. Have you gone through the plugins you have installed?

I copies the text and links, threw it up on a page and vimeo works but not youtube.

I am using a multi-site platform, have you heard any issue with this before?

Thanks again for the quick responses.

I’m sorry but I don’t know why this would be happening on your site. Have you gone through the standard troubleshooting techniques and gone through your activated plugins?

Are you using the JetPack plugin, by chance?

But here is your typical troubleshooting techniques. It’s annoying, but sometimes you’ve just got to do it for your site.

    1) Activate the default Twenty Twelve WordPress theme, and see if the problem still exists.

    2) De-activate each of your plugins, checking for the problem to go away.
