I am looking for a way to set a uniform size for featured images so that no matter what size an image is uploaded at, it shows as a set size.

    Hello,

You can use the Theme Blvd Image Sizes plugin to customize the sizes and crop modes for the two featured image sizes.

More info about crop sizes: http://dev.themeblvd.com/tutorial/crop-sizes/

I have installed the plugin, but I do not see the place to alter the featured image size. Is it another name in that plugin?

When you’re setting up your posts, are you displaying full-width thumbnails or small thumbnails?

The plugin will only allow you to change small thumbnails. Tools > TB Image Sizes > Thumbnails > Small Thumbnails

If you’re using full-width featured images (i.e. thumbnails), you’d need to customize it via your Child theme’s functions.php:

Looking back at this, the full-width thumbnails weren’t included in the plugin because the concept of how they’re sized is a little confusing. Depending on how you’ve set up the current page, you’ll either be calling the “tb_large” or “tb_medium” size. From looking at the table, you can see that these are both set to have an unlimited height and have a soft crop. You wan to set them to have a height and set the hard crop to true.
