Tooltips – alt image text – not working.

    Hi Jason,

Long time no see; so to speak.

I just noticed my tooltips are not working. The alt text for the the images is not showing up.

Tooltips works normally on all other sites including the Alyeska demo page. So, I must have blown something away.

Is there a setting for tooltips somewhere?

    Thanks,
    Frank

    Hello,

I’m not quite sure where specifically you’re referring to. Can you provide a link to a specific example? And when you say “tooltip” are you just referring to the default way your web browser handles an ALT tag on an image?

    Sorry Jason.

Perhaps I’m not using the right terms. Here is an example from your Alyeska demo.

I’m giving my site a complete rebuild. That’s how I noticed that no “popup” image alt info is working. I thought you called that a “tooltip.”

I have the site closed while I’m working on it, so all you’ll see is a under construction notice. But, if you want to check it out I can email you a link with admin access. Just let me know.

Just in general, when you write a link out in HTML, this is just the “title” of the link.

    For example:

    <a href="http://example.com" title="TOOLTIP HERE">Link Text</a>

So, it’s difficult to tell you why a specific link on your site doesn’t have this, not knowing any specific context behind what you’re asking about.

The specific example from the demo in the screenshot is just a use of the theme’s [button] shortcode, which takes care of automatically adding a title tag in the link for you.

    Got it!

I was confused about the difference between alt text – shows if someone has turned off images in their browser – and the title of the image.

With your info I did some Googling and got it straight. I have not been adding titles to my images. That’s what pops up when you hover over the image. Duh.

Thanks for your patience with me, Jason. If I live long enough I’ll get it all down one of these days.

P.S. I’m still in love with Alyeska. Nothing beats it.
