Hi.. I have a number of sliders that are product screens shot displayed with the lightbox setting. I would like to put these in my right sidebar. Is there some way to use short codes to do this? If not, what is the easiest route to go? Thanks, Mike

    Hello Mike,

WordPress doesn’t natively support shortcodes in widgets. It is possible to add this functionality though through your Child theme’s functions.php, however that would be a customization you’d need to make to the theme.

You can do this via plugins like this one, as well.

Keep in mind that shortcodes are not styled for widgets and sidebars. So it’s possible that not all of the theme’s shortcodes will look right when placed in a widget. — And specifically to do with sliders, you might want to consider looking around for a plugin that’s comes with some sort of widget that is intended to display some kind of slider in a sidebar.

Wow, the digwp post solution actually worked quite well for my needs at this moment, Thanks Jason! Though I can anticipate some control issues in the longer run and will explore an appropriate plugin.
