Search button in Internet Explorer 8

    Hello there,

    I know IE 8 is super old, but we still have users using it (unfortunately) and the search feature doesn’t seem to work in IE 8. Hovering over doesn’t produce the pop up and clicking does nothing. Is there any work around you could possibly provide for this?

    Thanks for your time,

    Tom

    Hello Tom,

    Step #1)
    In the theme, open up /assets/js/alyeska.min.js, and replace its contents with this updated version:

    Step #2)
    This next part is optional. After doing step #1, you’ll notice another one of the classic issues with older IE and handling transparent PNG’s. When the popup fades in, you’ll see black flash around where transparency exists on the background images.

    If you’d like a reasonable alternate approach for IE8 users to avoid this, open up /assets/css/ie.css of the the theme and place this in it. This will essentially just remove the background image and just make it a clean, simple white box around the search field.

    #main-menu .search-popup {
    	background-color: #ffffff;
    	background-image: none;
    	height: 70px;
    }
    #main-menu .search-popup .search-popup-inner {
    	padding-top: 17px;
    }
