    Hi Jason –

I’ve followed your 3 awesome videos on Redefining the Blog and have a separate News page in which I am assigning a paginated post list. But, there seems to be a problem. I want to show the full post — no excerpt, no thumbnails, and have checked those requests — but it’s not responding. Instead it’s showing double thumbnails and an excerpt. I don’t know what to do. http://i43.tinypic.com/b49l5w.png

    Thanks.

Hmm, something doesn’t quite make sense there. Is this a page with the “Post List” page template? Can I see a live link to the issue? It’s sort of hard to tell what’s what from the screenshot and not being able to inspect the page.

I’m using Desktop Server and a .dev site — so it’s not live right now. Is there another way to get you site info?

Can you tell me more about specifically what you’ve setup in the screenshot? Is this a post list page template? In setting it up the way you want, what settings have you changed and where? Have you made code customizations that have anything to do with post lists, like editing content-list.php?

    Hi Jason –

I have set up a “news” layout in the builder. In Featured Above I have raw content of the “news” graphic that you see on the screen. In the Primary Area, it’s a Post List (Paginated), one category chosen “Latest News”, hide thumbnails, show full content, 3 posts per page. There’s a Sidebar Right layout — that right sidebar has a tag cloud widget currently placed there.

On the “news” PAGE – I have just “news” in the title, the body is blank (as per your video), page attributes are no parent with custom layout template and custom layout being “news.”

I have not edited code. But earlier yesterday it was displaying properly but then changed to the current display. Is there a corruption?

I reinstalled the parent theme (my site is built on a child theme). Still same issue. Would it help if I sent you the source code?

If you’re using the the theme from the ThemeForest download package, you haven’t modified it, and you’ve installed it correctly, I’m not sure what kind of “corruption” there could be.

I just did what you’re describing, and couldn’t re-produce any issue like you’re describing, unfortunately.

Here’s what I setup for my Post List element in my custom layout.

If you’d like to get any kind of example online that demonstrates the issue, I’d be glad to take a closer look; just let me know.

Hi – I don’t want the site to go live without it being done. So, that’s not an option for me because the site would be unusable. I tried the Post List option (not paginated), and that works just fine — shows the whole post and everything like I want. But when I change it to Post List Paginated, I get the double thumbnail and just the excerpt — even if I choose whole article. Does this provide a clue?

Since the only thing working is the thumbnail / excerpt setting, I think I might just go with that, finish up the site, put it up live, and then we can look at it from there if need be. At least then you wouldn’t be at such a disadvantage in trying to help me.

    Thanks!

Yeah, there’s not much I can do with out actually seeing a tangible setup. But you don’t have to get your live site up or anything. Just replicate the issue anywhere online where I can see. Who knows, maybe in trying to replicate the issue somewhere else, you’ll learn more about it, and see why it’s happening.
