Portfolio Category (Permalinks) Base

Not sure if I can ask Portfolio questions here — but here’s mine. (Using it in WP Jumpstart.)

1) Is there a way to change the category (permalink) base of ITEM/ITEMS? Maybe even remove it? I don’t see a way via Permalinks page.

2) Regarding Portfolio Archive pages (added to the menu from the WP Menu Builder): I prefer my site-wide sidebar pref to be RIGHT SIDEBAR — but would like for any single Portfolio Archive page to be full width. But I don’t see where how I could do that.

I have seen your posts about managing rows and columns via a Functions hook/action — so I’m hoping this can be achieved in a similar easy way.

This is set in your arguments when you register a taxonomy, which the Portfolios plugin makes filterable.

Here’s how the register_taxonomy function works in WordPress:

… You’d be filtering that rewrite array.

So, when you filter “themeblvd_sidebar_layout” you’d just check for the “portfolio” and “portfolio_tag” taxonomies with is_tax().

In regards to your first question, and linking you, I noticed there’s a typo in the Portfolios plugin. The first filter should be “themeblvd_portfolio_tax_args”. I’ll fix this with a Portfolios v1.1.2 update and add to the FAQ an example of how to filter this.

Is there a way to have the PORTFOLIO items’ permalinks work the same as the main permalinks?

In my case, for all individual posts/portfolio_items I want:

Honestly, I don’t know the exact answer to that. Maybe something to research for WordPress custom post types, in general. With the “themeblvd_portfolio_item_cpt_args” filter of the plugin, you have total access to everything passed into the WP’s register_post_type() function.
