Line break help with columns

I’m moving some pages from an old site with tables to WordPress. I love the columns, but if one of the columns is blank or short on content, the next one runs into it. This is the page I’m trying to recreate the right way for responsive design: http://policy.rutgers.edu/school/contact.php

Any hints on how I can add line breaks in between the columns? I’ve got this so far but it’s
    not working:

    [two_fifth]

    James W. Hughes
    Dean
Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy
    EJB School Email
    [/two_fifth]
    [three_fifth last]
    [/three_fifth]

    [two_fifth]

    Marcia Hannigan
    Assistant to the Dean
    (848) 932-2828 [/two_fifth]
    [three_fifth last]
    Duties

    Maintain Dean’s calendar
    Write correspondence for the Dean
Assist in coordinating meetings and special events
    research

    [/three_fifth]

I’ve tried a bunch of different code – line breaks, paragraphs, css, that mostly get stripped out by WordPress.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,

The best way to get everything looking right is to wrap the entire thing in the [raw] shortcode.

    [raw]
    [two_fifth]
    ...
    [/two_fifth]
    [three_fifth last]
    ...
    [/three_fifth]
    [clear]
    [/raw]

In between the [raw] tags this will eliminate all WP Formatting, allowing the columns to line up and display properly.

Then if you want WP auto formatting within the columns you’d set wpautop="true" on your column shortcodes.

    [raw]
    [two_fifth wpautop="true"]
    ...
    [/two_fifth]
    [three_fifth wpautop="true" last]
    ...
    [/three_fifth]
    [clear]
    [/raw]

I was just re-reading your original question. I think the part you’re missing is the [clear] shortcode after each row.
