1) Don’t know if possible or or not but would like to get this kind of Recent Posts widget as displayed in the demo:

I can’t seem to get this kind of “sliding up” effect.

2) Is there anyway to be able to select multiple categories – but not all of them – in any Recent Posts widget? I.e., would like to select two categories. (the reason is that I have videos as one category that I’ve built my front page slider from so I do not want to select all categories and it will include the videos)

Make sure to checkout the “Homepage Setup” section from the Item Details page for the product over on ThemeForest for how the demo’s homepage was setup.

If you’re using the Theme Blvd Mini Post List widget, you can use a custom query like:

cat=1,2,3

And if you search on WordPress.org, I’m sure you can find tons of other plugins that allow you to list out posts in various ways.
