    Hi Jason

    Not if these are possible:

    1. Is it possible to create a slideshow that displays thumbnail images underneath the main image which a user could use for navigation?

    2. I plan to give my client an Editor role within their WP site. I noticed however that they don’t see the Slider menu with an Editor role so they can create or edit slideshows. How can I make this visible to them?

Sure, this would be possible. You could (1) create your own slider type or possibly (2) just hook your own function to the action “themeblvd_standard_slider” and remove the default function called “themeblvd_standard_slider_default” form this action.

The theme comes with Flexslider, which does have examples of using thumbnails for the slider navigation: http://flex.madebymufffin.com/examples/thumbnail-controlnav.html

    Thanks Jason.

Being completely new to functions etc this is a little daunting!
I was going to use your sample code in here: http://dev.themeblvd.com/tutorial/add-custom-slider/ as a starting point. Presume this code goes in the functions.php in my Child theme?
PS: Told you I was new to this 🙂

Yup, you’d do this from your Child theme’s functions.php.
