Hi – I’ve just purchased the Akita theme and I can’t find instructions on how to build the site. When I downloaded the Installable WordPress File – it downloaded as many multiple files. This needed to be very simple for those of us who are not developers…. Is it simple enough for me to build without specialist knowledge?

    Hello,

When I downloaded the Installable WordPress File – it downloaded as many multiple files.

When you purchase any WordPress theme from ThemeForest, the theme will always be contained somewhere within the ZIP package. This is because authors need a way to provide you with other materials such as documentation, licensing files, Photoshop source files, etc. In other words, ThemeForest essentially gives us one ZIP package to give you everything you need.

Within your ZIP package, there is a second ZIP called akita.zip; this is your theme and what you want to install through your WordPress dashboard as you would with any other theme you’ve used. Here is a video that will walk you through this process:

I’ve just purchased the Akita theme and I can’t find instructions on how to build the site.

Now, moving forward, after installation, there is a complete user-guide included within your download package from ThemeForest. Inside the ZIP you downloaded, there is a folder called “documentation” and inside is a file called “index.html” — Open this file in your web browser (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc).

Also, another tip for getting started is to checkout the “Homepage Setup” section of the Item Details page over on ThemeForest:

And finally, the theme also includes sample data along with this video that walks you through the whole process of copying the live demo.

… However, I would honestly avoid doing this in most cases. Many people think this is going to be the easier solution when they don’t want to learn how the theme works, when reality it’s going to cause you more issues, as the demo is way more complex than most people’s site are going to be with it trying to demonstrate so many feature. The sample data is meant for people importing into some sort of local testing environment to learn from, opposed to trying to make a quick copy of the demo for a live site.
