Featured Images Missing After WP 4.4.1 Upgrade, http vs https

Hello Jason,

We upgraded to WP 4.4.1 today and the featured images that appear on the blog index, as well as on single blog posts are all broken.

If you navigate directly to the image URL they do appear, they are just not loading on the site.

Hi Ross,

Your issue isn’t related to the theme, in any way. What it looks like is happening is that you’re viewing your site on an https secure protocol but your site URL setting at WP Admin > Settings > General is set with a http protocol, and thus this URL is used to generate the featured images of your site. And as a result the browser isn’t going to load images from an “unsecure source” on a secure website.

So, if you view your site by typing http at the start of the website address, your images will work. If you type https at the start of the URL, then your images will not work.

To fix, I think you can just go to WP Admin > Settings > General and set the default URL of your site to start with https.
