    Hello there, I would like to change the nav bar color on zerodowncarmillionaire.com/betasite to more of a maroon bar with white text on it. How would I do that?

    Hello,

    I apologize, but the theme will only allow you to select from the pre-set colors. To setup your own color is going to be a customization you’ll need to make from your Child theme. You can find PSD source images for all of the skins within your download package from ThemeForest. And then you’d implement your custom images with your own CSS overrides.

    ========

    For CSS changes, it’s a good idea to use a tool like firebug or Google Chrome’s built-in developer tools to locate them and then put the edits either in your child theme or in the “Custom CSS” option on your theme options page.

    Also, here’s a helpful tutorial on how to use Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974. The only thing I’d suggest not doing is actually making edits to the theme’s CSS files, as it shows at the end of that video. However, the video serves as a good introduction to Firebug and how it can be used to find what CSS is effecting certain areas of your site without ever digging around in any files.

    I have been trying to change the color of my navigation bar for this site to one of theme’s colors (red) and it is not being responsive. In fact any color I try to change to as my primary color will not change the colors. Please advise: crosslawfirmapc.com

    It appears you’ve been altering theme files. You have no HTML tag in your website. This is the specific reason why the theme options aren’t getting applied. The theme filters CSS classes on through WordPress internal filters onto the tag. — So, I’d double check any edits you’ve made to header.php.

    Always be careful when making customizations and make sure all edits come from a Child theme. Try to avoid editing main theme files like header.php, footer.php, etc, and instead try to always utilize action hooks from your Child theme’s functions.php. This will help you avoid issues like this in the future.

    Thank you for the quick reply and info. I had to go into the header file in order to delete spam text that was inserted. Can you please provide additional guidance with what specific code needs to be added back in to the header file in order to get the theme options working again?

    Have a look at the original header.php file of the theme. Specifically this is the part you’re missing.
