I’m thinking of purchasing Jump Start and was wondering if the only difference between Jump Start and Alyeska is that Jump Start has better management of child themes or is there more to Jump Start than just that?

    Thanks

    Hello,

In comparing Alyeska and Jump Start, they both contain our same responsive theme framework. Jump Start essentially includes just the bare minimum that it needs for the framework to operate as a stand-alone theme. Basically, you can think of like Alyeska is Jump Start, but with design elements and style options added on top to give you the appearance you see in the Alyeska theme.

So, no this isn’t quite the case. You can do everything with Alyeska that you can with Jump Start from a Child theme. — http://dev.themeblvd.com — Everything here applies to the framework in general which is in both themes.

From a development standpoint, the main difference is that Jump Start is giving you a blank starting point to develop your design on top of, while Alyeska is already coming with a design that you’d then have to edit.

Note: One thing that might cause some confusion here is that Jump Start currently contains the latest version of the framework (v2.2) and Alyeska currently contains v2.1. So this means that not all features are currently identical. However, this will change in the near future when Alyeska gets its next big update.
