Hello,

You really have many ways you could approach this.

1) First, you could just filter in span tags to be accepted on your Theme Options page. This is actually the specific example used in the following article, which will show you to do this from functions.php of your Child theme.

2) If you actually want to edit the PHP functions from your Child theme’s functions.php, this is what the hook system is for. Just pick your hook and edit away.

Example:

function my_header_addon(){
	?>
	your custom markup...
	<?php
}
remove_all_actions( 'themeblvd_header_addon' );
add_action( 'themeblvd_header_addon', 'my_header_addon' );

3) Or, you can just edit the function the theme already hooks to the “themeblvd_header_addon” to meet your needs. The function is called “alyeska_header_addon” and is located in /includes/theme-functions.php. Simply copy it to your Child theme’s functions.php before the framework runs to edit it.
